Pull up a chair and grab yourself a cup of whatever ya like…..
I assume you’re here for the bread
There’s a few warm ups that must be done before we march on to the main event
1.) Grab some comfy clothes… all of us have them….pj pants and a hoodie are my comfies of choice
b.) Clear your schedule for the remainder of the day
3.) Remind yourself that bread is a food group that, like all the others, MUST be filled! {Ok….GRAIN is the food group and there are a lot of other items in it….but for now it’s just BREAD}
Have you ever been to a restaurant that served AMAZING bread??
Well…. Red Lobster has their Cheddar Bay Biscuits, Panera has their fantastic Asiago Cheese Bread……
And Modern Mrs. Cleaver has her Pimento Cheese Bread
{I wouldn’t mind being known for my bread}
Once you’ve finished your warm ups’, bake up a loaf or 3 and curl up next to this bread….
with buttah….
and maybe a bowl of something with a sop-able gravy!
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dill weed
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup mayo
1 egg, slightly beaten
8 ounces shredded cheddar
1/2 onion, diced
4 oz. canned diced green chilies
4 ounces sliced pimento
1 tablespoon melted butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees
Liberally grease bottom and sides of a bread loaf pan
{here comes the hard part}
Dump ALL the ingredients, except the butter, in a large bowl and mix until thoroughly combined. Once everything is moistened, schoop into the prepared loaf pan and smooth out the top.
{ok…not so difficult}
Drizzle the melted butter over top and place in the oven.
Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the pan set on a cooling rack for 15 minutes. Run a knife around the edges of the bread and turn out of the pan. Allow to cool “somewhat” before slicing into slabs. I say “somewhat” because I can NEVER allow things to cool completely before diving in.
Here’s what you’re in for……
I’m making sure my grain group is fully covered today…. I’ll work on the sweets group later
What?? That’s not a group??
Signing Off,
Modern Mrs. Cleaver
